In his repertoire there is a definite emphasis on music of the 19th century
with its many virtuosos, as well as Johann Sebastian Bach. During the Bach
Year 2000, Wiklund performed all four of the Baroque master’s lute suites,
an intensive effort during a time he considers to be the most important
phase of his musical development. At this time he developed a greater
awareness of sonority, and a deeper insight into his instrument’s wealth of
subtle nuances.

As an orchestra soloist Wiklund has made appearances in concerts by Mario
Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Léo Brouwer, and Heitor Villa-Lobos and he has also as a chamber musician worked in several constellations. Especially a
collaboration with author Birgitta Lillpers has been successful, a programme in which they have attempted to express the deeper relation between music and poetry, in a performance in which poems and music are woven together.
